Our Role

Our agreed upon role is to provide adequate safety supervision for the client involved, to maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness practices so as to mitigate risk of infection, to assist with basic activities of daily living, and to enrich the quality of life for each client. At Harriet’s Heritage Home Care, we call ourselves caregivers. We are there to care.

The state of MA coins several terms that encompass our vision home care: Personal Care Attendant, Direct Care Assistant, Home Aide, Companion Caregiver--all of these are defined within a similar parameter regarding provision of non medical support for activities of daily living. The services in question are individualized following a comprehensive review of family structure, client goals and level of support necessary.

Transparency about clients current medical orders and restrictions are required in order for our assessment to take place. In addition, legal documentation of health care proxy activation, if applicable will be included in client files.

Matters taken into consideration when determining the appropriate level of our caregivers involvement and support, include, but are not limited to: readily available and active support systems, frequency of medical team involvement and major medical history, an overview of  clients current abilities and health conditions-include restrictions, allergies, medications, risks and limitations-, assessment of previous and ongoing family caregiver experience, psychosocial supports and cultural and spiritual specifications.

Employees of Harriet’s Heritage Home Care are defined in MA as non medical direct care workers. We are not medical professionals equipped to diagnose, treat, medicate, or otherwise alter the course of a client's care. We enter into this agreement with the sole intention of supporting and reinforcing family caregivers in their efforts to maintain comfort, hygiene and quality of life for our clients. We do not offer medical advice.

Service will only be provided after the family caregiver/responsible party has acknowledged and signed to confirm their understanding of the non medical nature of the care performed by employees of Harriet’s Heritage Home Care. Our employees do not dispense medication, nor do we provide medical advice. The family caregiver/responsible party is solely responsible for any final assessments of clients current status, medication administered, and procedures/treatments/medical orders required.
