Our founder's path has been shaped by a deep understanding of human connection and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Our founder's story is not just personal; it's the heartbeat of our mission. Welcome to the heart of our story. I'm Leah, the founder of Harriet's Heritage Home Care and I'd like to share my journey with you.

 After earning a degree in human services, I spent a year as an advocate and counselor in a crisis center for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Life took an unexpected turn when I became pregnant, leading me to put education on hold and focus on building a family. While working at Starbucks, I embraced management roles, gaining valuable insights. 

Eventually, I shifted gears and decided to pursue a career in healthcare, specifically nursing. However, family responsibilities intervened as my grandmother's health declined. Drawing from her wisdom in gerontology, I cared for her in a way that honored her values. This transformative experience illuminated the significance of maintaining independence for the elderly. Harriet passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, August of 2019. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to create an honorable and loving exit out of this world. for her.

Despite facing setbacks in my nursing program journey, including life events and the impact of COVID-19, I persevered. Rebuilding my life, I found strength in reconnecting with old friends and rediscovering my purpose. My path led me to become a licensed CNA, gaining hands-on experience while working towards my degree. Disheartened by the lack of support for direct care workers in some facilities, I ventured into private home care. 

A pivotal moment occurred when I took on a private client, realizing my true calling. Fueled by my crisis counseling experience and passion for advocacy, I envisioned a future where individuals could age with dignity in familiar settings. This vision laid the foundation for Harriet's Heritage Home Care. I believe in empowering family caregivers and creating a community that collaborates to extend the quality of life for our elders. Together, we can be the solution for the challenges our aging population faces.
